CFC & FIDE rated.
Open Section (1600 and over) [1500-1599 Play-up with additional $40 fee]
U1600 Section

CFC MEMBERSHIP:

Canadian players must have a valid CFC membership, it is $43 for adults in Alberta and $28 for youth Albertans. The fees are different for other provinces.

Members of the Quebec Chess Federation require a valid FQE membership (no CFC membership required).

LATE DEFAULT TIME:
          Round 1: Forfeit after 60 minutes.           All subsequent rounds: Forfeit after 30 minutes.


RATING:
          CFC rating used.  For those who don’t have a CFC ratings, FIDE rating will be used.

COMPUTER TIE BREAKS:

1. Head to Head
2. Buccholz Cut 1
3. Buccholz
4. Most Blacks
5. Most Wins
(prize money is added and divided evenly between tied players)

BYES:
3 half point byes may be requested during the first 7 rounds if requested with entry or a minimum of 2 rounds prior to the requested bye round.


APPEALS COMMITTEE:
The Appeals Committee shall be formed prior to the start of the first round.
Any appeals must be submitted in writing one (1) hour of the completion of the round, and shall he accompanied by deposit of $100.
If the appeal is successful the deposit shall be returned.


PRIZES:      

The prize fund is guaranteed at $28,000.
